US Confidence Hits Seven-Mo Low | “In Service, Not Sales—Zero Cancellation Fees, 100% Commitment.”

Lately, I’ve noticed a shift in how folks are feeling about the economy—something that matters whether you’re buying, selling, or just planning your next move here in Northwest Arkansas. In mid-Q3, Americans reported feeling a bit more positive about their current situation, but optimism faded when looking ahead: the present-conditions index jumped almost 7 points to 121, while the expectations index dropped about 6 points to 68—dipping below the threshold that often signals a recession risk. Early in Q3, employers cut 23,000 jobs, and unemployment ticked up to around 4%, mainly because more people left the workforce, not because hiring improved.

Interestingly, even with softer confidence overall, homebuying expectations only eased slightly in mid-Q3 and continued to climb. Around 61% of consumers still expect interest rates to rise. With federal policymakers keeping rates steady and markets showing little sign of near-term relief, borrowing costs look likely to remain elevated through the end of the year.

As someone who’s been rooted in this community for over 30 years—and with plenty of personal experience navigating shifting markets—I know how important it is to keep perspective amid change. My aim is always to offer honest guidance and help you make informed, confident decisions, no matter what the headlines say.
